Randomly Determining Character Homeworlds in STAR FRONTIERS Contrarian, August 5, 1998June 24, 2025 Oh no, not another random table! Well, yes. Now stop complaining, and listen. The Short Version (Why) Players never seemed very eager to decide where their characters came from, so I made them a table. Also useful for situations where the Referee has a lot of well-traveled NPCs and PCs who ask dumb questions (like the guy who went around asking every NPC on a starliner where they came from). If you need either question answered quickly, roll d100, and consult the column appropriate for the character’s race. The Long Version (What) I’m assuming that the megacorp and UPF-military worlds of the Frontier all have family housing, so this table includes all the worlds on the Zebulon’s Guide Frontier Worlds table, except Mechano (all Mechanons, remember?), Snowball (all Mhemme), and Genesis (too secretive, and families can live on Exodus in the same system). Very high rolls require re-rolls on other species’ subtables: I figure even the most culturally-monolithic worlds have to have some of the other character races living on them. The Rim Races (Humma, Ifshnit, Osakar) can re-roll on the Frontier races’ subtables (because many Rim veterans of the Second Sathar War settled in the Frontier Sector), but Frontier characters never re-roll on the Rim races’ sub-tables (because not many of them have settled in the Rim). The Tangential Version (How) If you want to change this table, you can read how I constructed this table. TABLE SF-H1: Random Home Planets for Characters Dral. Humma Human Ifsh. Osak. Vrusk Yazi.
